    I only use one on the calf that is injured.. Works 100%.

    I only use a compression calf sleeve on my left leg after I had an injury where a bulging disk in my back made my leg numb from the knee down around 8 years ago. After going through physical therapy, the calf sleeve kept compression on that calf to help with blood flow and reduce the risk on Charlie horses in my calf. I am a firm believer that they work and helped me get back to running.

    Just like half tights vs split shorts, I can agree on the nice feeling of compression is a plus. I have been using these during marathon training and my recommendation would be on the easy / recovery run days. Like you mentioned, they didn't do much on my workouts but since the legs are beaten up by the weekly milage, I found them to help a lot on the easy runs.

      Thanks! I think that's something I would like to try properly in my next marathon block.

    I use them on Ultras, as they help reduce swelling in the lower legs. Someone ran an Ultra with only one calf sleeve on and the difference in leg swelling was obvious.
    Also when you use kinesio tape on the calves, then these hold the tape in place.

    • @AlexFilitti

      Interesting! Do you have a reference for that ultra running experience with only one calf sleeve on?

    I use Compressport socks for most runs and calf sleeve.. I was injured and I could only run if I had the calf sleeve. So I know it works. I need size 2..

      @@AlexFilitti I used to when I started running.. Not only during the run but also recovery socks after the run. Now I only use them when it's cold to prevent cramps or if I have the feeling is am going to get injured because of high milage.. Then I wear them on my weaker leg only... But in the winter both legs most runs. When I was injured I could not run at all without them. My calf would get stiff and non responsive if I did not wear the calf sleeve. I have 3 pairs. All the Oxygen once.

    Yes, I've always been wearing compression socks while and post running for decades. Those socks really help me stay cramp-free and feeling great after a distance running.
    The brands that I have tried for all those years include 2XU, CEP, Zensah, and lately I love wearing Crazy Compression, Procompressipn, and Bombas. 😉

      Thanks for your comment! I can only recommend you to try these and I'd be happy to hear from you on how they compare against other brands (especially in terms of comfort and durability as I have the feeling that Compressport is really good on those aspects). Cheers

    As I understand, running with compression sleeves / socks doesn't improve performance during a run. If there's a small perceived difference it's probably psychological.
    Compression sleeves may improve recovery. Simply because it promotes blood flow to and around the legs post run. But the research is inconclusive.
    The best recovery protocol will always be refuelling adequately and resting sufficiently between running sessions.

    I’ve never been 100% sure if they work or not
    But on a super long run or race I think they help even if it’s just psychologically

  • @BamainMn
    @BamainMn Год назад +1

    Sounds like it’s more for the comfort. But then I use CWX tights, which does feel better, but more so compression boots - and I really believe that those make a difference with regular use (just based on how I feel when I don’t use them).

    • @AlexFilitti
      @AlexFilitti  Год назад

      Could be yes. Comfort plays a huge role is the overall "well being" when running so in the end even if they "only" add comfort it's fine by me :-)

  • @TrailrunnerTroy
    @TrailrunnerTroy Год назад

    For years I used Compressport sleeves for road and trail races. Especially for training, they can help with recovery time. For ultra-racing, however, they don’t seem to provide an advantage, and beyond 40 or 50 miles the compression tends to put more pressure (rather than less) on the knees. Less is more, so go with the lightest version.

    I have tried my calf compression on maraton pace longrun workouts, and I would say calfs feel better afterwards. I am considering using them in a race. Only way to know is to try. I have a question: Do you have any experience with orthotics? I tried some very moderat and light orthotics with a little more arch support in my Vaporflies, and actually felt the spring in the shoe more. Do you know people, or have experience yourself, with orthotics in supershoes? For me it feels to make the ride more stable. Or anyone following Alex having experience with orthotics in supershoes?

  • @LeonAl-hl1yl
    @LeonAl-hl1yl Год назад +1

    I may feel slightly more stable but from a performance aspect I think it has negative impact as your legs feel somewhat heavier

      Can u suggest me ..which one is better for running and gym (both)

  • @Muhonry
    @Muhonry Год назад

    Muscle compression during performance seems to cause pain. Not sure if it’s constructing or restricting natural movement or what but 🤷🏻‍♂️
    As for limiting blood flow to legs, this seems counterintuitive? Blood delivers nutrients and oxygen, why would I want that limited?

    I was actually looking at buying compression shorts today as I have hamstring issues so this video was apt Alex. I haven't tried compression gear before. I'm pretty sure the science behind them is brand driven though which always makes me sceptical but I'd be interested to know if they are any help. Also they are quite expensive compared to the normal gear.

    Compression socks are confusing to me. First they increase bloodflow in the legs because they are tight, while other tights things really restrict blood flow normally. Also, when there's better flow in the legs, how can there also be more in the stomach area, where there normally is an issue because all blood flows into the legs..? I assume sound research has been done, but I just don't get it

      I’ve been using V2 since late last year and using calf sleeves for many years. I have visions of my calves thrashing about whilst pounding the roads. The fit and quality of compressport is very good and seem durable. The most significant thing i noticed is improved recovery after a tough session or race - I put them back on after foam rolling or using the muscle gun.
